from the San Jose Airport to Puntarenas (approx.
2 hrs.) then board the car ferry to Paquera (approx.
1hr. 15 mins.). Once in Paquera approx. 1-1/2hrs.
to Mal Pais on a good to fair road with signs.

For
the adventurous & budget traveler take the
bus. Very reasonable but a bit of a hassle. Direct
bus service from main bus station in San Jose
to Puntarenas leaves every hour. Then board ferry
to Paquera. Once in Paquera take other bus to
Cobano once in Cobano board local bus to Mal Pais.
Best to depart San Jose at 8a.m. to make other
connections. |
Fly
Sansa or Nature Air. Fly direct from S.J. to Tambor
then taxi ride to Mal Pais. Make reservations
on SANSA prior to arrival.
